On Saturday, March 26, 2022, I led a group of interested citizens on a field trip exploring the hydrology of San Vicente Creek. Titled “The VIPs of Stream Morphoplogy,” I hoped to give participants an understanding of how streambed materials and other physical characteristics of the riparian corridor inform the behavior and evolution of a stream channel. How do these concepts relate to formation of the Big Ditch? What is the connection between groundwater and surface water?

It was a great day and turnout, and the event was organized by the Silver City Watershed Keepers as part of 2022’s World Water Dat celebration.
